Back in 2009, before anybody (well, with the exception of scientists) were talking about inner beauty, we launched GLOW® Inner Beauty Essential—the world’s first bio-fermented inner beauty powder.

Not only was it a first for the brand, but GLOW® pioneered an entire category: inner beauty. While the category itself continues to evolve and grow as more people begin to understand the link between gut health and glowing skin, GLOW® has continued to develop a cult following across the globe. Still, we understand it can be slightly confusing to work out where exactly it fits into your routine, so we’ve rounded up your most frequently asked questions and answered them.

What is GLOW®?

GLOW® is our bestselling inner beauty powder and is the perfect starting point if you’re looking to boost your gut health and promote more radiant skin and improved wellbeing.

Developed using The Beauty Chef’s exclusive Flora Culture™ bio-fermentation process, GLOW® contains natural, broad-spectrum probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics for beauty that begins in the belly.

As your essential daily beauty blend, GLOW® forms the foundation of your inner beauty routine and contains Certified Organic bio-fermented wholefoods as well as vitamin C and zinc for luminous skin from the inside out.

What does GLOW® taste like?

GLOW® has a wild berry flavour and due to ingredients like pomegranate peel extract, Kakadu plum and our potent fermentation process, you'll notice some delicious tropical notes coming through, too.

Does GLOW® take the place of a probiotic?

Our products are wholefood supplements that contain probiotics and postbiotics, rather than probiotic supplements. Whilst probiotics are an important part of The Beauty Chef’s inner beauty products, they are just one element that contributes to the many benefits.

Our point of difference is our exclusive Flora Culture™ fermentation process. While probiotics you may find in the supermarket often only carry one or two species or strains, our formulas offer multiple, natural, food-based strains to help encourage microbial diversity.

The addition of prebiotic-rich ingredients also helps to nourish the beneficial bacteria in your gut to further boost and balance digestive health. If you are experiencing a medical condition whereby your health practitioner has recommended a particular strain or species at a certain level, you may need additional supplementation.

How does GLOW® compare to a standard multivitamin?

A multivitamin typically uses a range of synthetic vitamins and minerals in a tablet or capsule form with no food-based ingredients, whereas GLOW® contains a range of Certified Organic fermented wholefoods such as mung beans, chickpeas, lentils and buckwheat, with probiotics and postbiotics.

As a complete formula, GLOW® contains a greater spectrum of compounds than a synthetic vitamin supplement, which are often limited to B group vitamins, vitamins C, A and some minerals.

We’ve added sprouted quinoa, which has standardised levels of the B group vitamins in their biologically active form. This means it not only contains B vitamins, but their coenzymes as well. When B vitamins are found in this way, there’s research that shows they can stay in the body longer.

GLOW® also contains natural sources of beta carotene, also known as provitamin A, which is the primary plant-based source of dietary vitamin A and makes vegetables like carrots orange in colour. When provitamin A is consumed, it converts into vitamin A and is then used for a range of functions in the body, including helping to form skin structure and support skin function.

Supercharged using our unique Flora Culture™ bio-fermentation process, GLOW® contains a natural broad-spectrum probiotic, prebiotics and postbiotics to feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut as well as our exclusive probiotic strain, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GUT5Y™, which contributes to digestive wellbeing and skin health.

What strains of probiotic are in GLOW®?

Our hero product, GLOW® uses the following species of probiotics during fermentation: Bifidobacterium infantis, Bifidobacterium lactis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. lactis, Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris, Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis biovar diacetylactis, Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis, Leuconostoc mesenteroides and Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides.

If you have been diagnosed with a specific condition, we would recommend that you work with your chosen healthcare practitioner on any dietary changes.

Is GLOW® vegan?

Yes, GLOW® does not contain animal-derived ingredients.

Is GLOW® FODMAP friendly?

GLOW® is suitable for people on a low-FODMAP diet.

Is GLOW® suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

All of our inner beauty products are highly nutritious, whole-food based supplements. However, as no studies have been conducted to confirm their safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding we cannot recommend their use during this specific life stage. We recommend speaking with your healthcare practitioner before making any dietary or lifestyle changes.

Can I combine GLOW® with other TBC products?

You can absolutely combine GLOW® with other The Beauty Chef products–our range is designed to work synergistically to benefit your gut, skin and overall wellbeing. Our three-tier system works holistically to promote both inner and outer beauty. The Your Remedy quiz on our website helps to personalise your inner beauty experience and deliver the products best suited to you.

Is GLOW® Inner Beauty Essential gluten-free?

Yes. GLOW® does not contain gluten or ingredients derived from gluten-containing grains.
