As I've previously shared, The Beauty Chef was born out of my own personal skin issues—and every product we’ve released since launching GLOW over 10 years ago has been to help address the skin, health and wellbeing concerns experienced by our community.
And while I can never play favourites, I must admit that I’m deeply connected to OMEGA ELIXIR™. This unique formula is not only the first ingestible oil in our range, but it’s been specifically developed to help address some of the skin concerns that are so close to my heart. Another passion project for me, we have been working on developing this formula for over three years. Like all our products, I have worked closely with our team of nutritionists and naturopaths to create something that is truly extraordinary.
Having struggled with extremely dry and irritated skin, I understand the importance of healthy fats when it comes to the state of your complexion, gut and overall wellbeing—and so I felt inspired to create a beautiful oil blend that offers up a perfect ratio of essential fatty acids. The result? OMEGA ELIXIR, a game-changer for skin health.
Why Are Healthy Fats so Important?
Healthy fats provide the building blocks of our cells and are critical for the nervous system and eye health, hormone production, gut health and microbial diversity, healthy cholesterol, skin, hair and nail health as well as supporting our general wellbeing.
While our body does produce some of the fatty acids we need—including omega 7s and 9s—as we age, our ability to produce these oils naturally declines. The other essential fatty acids that are critical for our health—omega 3s and 6s—need to be obtained through our diet, but in order to reap their anti-inflammatory benefits, we must also consume these in a balanced ratio. Trouble is, in the Western world, this ratio is often out of balance, having the opposite effect and actually increasing inflammation in the body.
On top of that, our busy modern lifestyles, environmental pollution, an unhealthy diet and stress can disrupt both our gut barrier function as well as our skin’s barrier function, robbing our skin of vital nutrients and the natural oils that keep our complexion healthy, hydrated and glowing.

Designed to perfectly complement The Beauty Chef’s Essentials, GLOW and CLEANSE, OMEGA ELIXIR is a skin-boosting vegan formula that contains a synergistic blend of nourishing plant-based omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 oils. The unique combination of bio-fermented algal oil, sea buckthorn fruit oil and black cumin seed oil work together, creating a ‘matrix effect’, to boost the bioavailability of the ingredients including evening primrose oil to soothe dry and irritated skin from the inside, out.
Unlike fish oil, which in recent years has raised concerns due to fishing practices, pollution and fish stocks globally, bio-fermented algal oil is sustainably sourced, suitable for vegetarians and vegans and a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids as well as DHA for nervous system and eye health as well as greater wellbeing. While evening primrose oil, which is rich in anti-inflammatory gamma linoleic acid, helps reduce dryness, relieves skin inflammation and soothes irritation. This makes it ideal for those suffering from inflammatory skin conditions, irritation and dryness.
But it’s not just the incredible oils that make OMEGA ELIXIR so nourishing, it’s also rich in potent phytonutrients and antioxidants. Sea buckthorn fruit is a berry that’s grown at high altitudes and is a rich source of omega 7s. While astaxanthin, a red-orange pigment that comes from freshwater microalgae and gives salmon its beautiful colour, is also known as a powerful antioxidant.
